The Golden Axe and Other Folk Tales of Compassion and Greed
Published in Paperback by Stotter Press (June, 2003)

A fabulous resource and a great readI love this collection of stories, notes about the stories, and activities. Perfect for nearly any age child or adult, and a great introduction to the ways tales change and vary from culture to culture.
This book is a storyteller's dream of motifs & information. All storytellerswhether beginner or proneed this book. When I started reading this clear and well written book, I found I could hardly put it down because the stories are fascinating and not always easy to find in the usual sources. Each tale type is well analyzed, the motifs are clearly stated and the book itself finely crafted. Each chapter is a gem explaining what the story means and how it relates to other stories of it's type. Clever quotes wrap up each chapter and the writer keeps earlier stories fresh in the reader's mind by continuing to compare and contrast meaning and motif in a layered tapestry of insight. Solid sources are given for each story and additional information and books are included. An introductory chapter sites tips on how to tell stories while later chapters explain how to use word games, scripts and puppet plays based on these stories. Every serious storyteller should own this book; it is a wealth of insight and useful analysis that will help in both understanding and telling stories.

The golden barge : a fable

Not bad for a teenagerIn his introduction to the first edition (Savoy) Mr Moorcock explains how this is his first surviving book, done at an early age under the influence of his friend Mervyn Peake. He tends to disparage it but there is an odd, original quality about this book. You can now get it, with a lot of other good material, in White Wolf's EARL AUBEC volume, which reprints much of the author's shorter fiction, plus this novel. These beautifully produced illustrated editions are definitive and are well worth buying. Excellent value. But the original Savoy edition with its gold-leaf Moreau cover and its Cawthorn interior illustrations still isn't that expensive second hand from the UK. Check out the Savoy website for some strange, beautiful editions of VERY obscure titles!
Profoundly true and self reflectingThis was a book I read 15 or so years ago. Of the hundreds I have read this has been the most remembered and enjoyable read by far. For years I have looked for a personal copy having borrowed the one I read with out success. I would recommend to anyone, to beg, borrow, steal or pester Amazon.com to get you a copy of your own. The fable is a story following a river yet never catching up. By the end of the tale you pray the narrator will find his goal. The goal is well worth discovering and you must read the story to find out what it is. This is and is not religious. This book can also be considered a self help story, or perhaps a study in personal understanding. If you read it you will never forget it! PS. If you don't like it, I buy your copy!

Golden Bay (Harlequin Romance, No 2851)

One of My Favorites!Wonderful romance book set on a ranch in New Zealand! I really liked the lead character Liz Stuart, a spunky young woman with a lot of strength and courage, after her fiance dumps her for another woman she goes to a ranch where the owner a man named Jarrah Conway is a friend of her ex-fiance, Jarrah is very rude to Liz because of the lies that Liz's ex-fiance told him about her and he just wanted to believe that Liz was a horrible person, normally I can't stand books where the hero starts out as a major jerk but this book was an exception because it was just a really good book and is the book that got me into liking romance books set on horse ranches, especially in New Zealand and Australia. Definitely a keeper!
Very Good!!Great book especially if you love romance books with a rancher/cowboy theme! Recommended!

We thought it was greatMy twins, aged 5, love this book. I highly recommend it for its warmth and pleasurable illustrations. They love to read this book before going to sleep because it calms and quiets them. There really schould be more books for young children such as this. I will treasure it along with my childhood Winnie the Pooh books. It is a classic!
A WARM AND COSY TODDLER BOOKThis is a wonderful book about a youg boy and his best friend (the bear), who do everything together. The rhyming text is just enough to hold the (short) toddler attention span, and the beautiful, colourful ilustrations make for lots of conversation. This book is one that will be repeatedly read until the whole family knows it off by heart! Another great book for this age group is Bright Eyes, Brown Skin, by Cheryl Willis Hudson and Bernette Ford

The Golden Book of Light

This book is a must read for all seeking enlightenment! When I first read "The Golden Book of Light", I could not put the book down. Every page was a attention grabber. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is seeking enlightenment. The book covers in depth material on meditation, yoga, self-realization, Paramahansa Yogananda, eastern religions, universal religions and much more. This book is definately two thumbs up!
The Most Profound Commentary Ever WrittenI recently read The Golden Book of Light by author: Dennis Williams. It was very enlightening. The author takes the mystery out of mysticism and writes in plain language about the secrets of Jesus and the Hebrew masters so that the average person who is not a biblical scholar can understand the enigmatic teachings of Jesus. In the pages of this book, you are given the tools to have a more deeper and personal relationship with God. In this book is the original Christianity that was taught by the Apostle's of Jesus. I found it to be refreshing and uplifting. The Golden Book of Light is a must read for all seekers of God.

The Golden Cage: The Enigma of Anorexia Nervosa
Published in Paperback by Harvard Univ Pr (May, 2001)

The skeleton in the closet unveiledThis is an absolutely outstanding book which gives in depth insight into the mind set of an anorexic, how they became so and how they can be treated. I am a 25 yr old female and 9 months ago suffered a horribly severe relapse of anorexia. A literally starving skeleton I ended up in therapy. I had no idea WHY I was this and my therapist suggested a long reading list. An avid reader I began devouring these books and it was "The Golden Cage" that had my soul reeling in agony. My husband of 8 yrs. read it, as well as his parents. This book was about me. Word for word, I was a text book case. Hilde Bruch unveils the truths behind the eating disorder in an easy to read as well as sensitive manner. A little out-dated in some respects (such as insinuating that any girl who exercises for fun must have something wrong with her!) as it was written I believe in the 70's, it is still valid as to the How's and Why's behind the disorder. Believe me, in order for a beautifull, healthy young woman to put herself through starvation, obsess with food every second of the day and become a neurotic, hyper-sensitive beast, there must be something deep inside that went severly wrong. This book tells us why, as well as how we / they can be helped. If you are a parent, PLEASE, read this with an open mind and heart and above all, DO NOT BECOME ANGRY!! Most importantly, seek help not only for your child, but for yourself as well. The road to recovery is tough for everyone.
A must read for any parent with a mentally ill daughterA remarkable description of the basic personality and family mechanisms involved in teenage mental disorders and their anorectic expression.

Golden Carp

Wonderful poems of the human conditionWhether in forms or free verse, Vallone's poems have a magical quality. They are rich with imagery, but manage to transform ordinary experiences into reflections we should all experience. Epistomology is the most powerful, self-reflective villanelle I've read in contemporary poetry. I teach the book in a second year college English class, and the students are amazed that poetry can speak to them in real language and about real things. Many of my students have continued reading poetry because of Vallone's Golden Carp. Anyone interested in contemporary poetry would enjoy the poems--and as with any great work of literature, each reading reveals something new!
Exquisite poems full of rich imagery!Lovely, lovely, lovely, lovely, lovely, lovely poems.

Golden Chances (Homespun)

A Must-Read!!I am generally not one to pick up a Historical-type book of any kind. Including a Romance set back in the "olden" days. Luckily, I put my predjudices aside and read Golden Chances. I'm glad that I did. It was hard to put down! I laughed and I cried as Faith and Reese met, and fell in love - in some pretty strange circumstances. It's a wonderful read, and I'd recommend it to anyone - especially those of you, who wouldn't necessarily pick up a Historical book!
I couldn't put this down!!!!!This book was so good I literally could not put it down!!! I was up until three in the morning reading this book. The story is so interesting that I found myself cheering for Faith and cursing Resse when he did something utterly stupid. This is a must read!

It wrapped in Lake Helen, Florida in mid December '97 and will be distributed in 1998.
